Life has a way of leading you down the path of least resistance, if you don't have the brains to fight it. Pretty much sums up where I'm from. --jcs
Jae C. Steele plays a self-taught brand of contemporary country, blues, folk, pop, originals, and her own sometimes edgy interpretions of cover songs. Despite possessing hands the size of an eight-year-old, she takes on the music of James Taylor, Tom Rush, Lindsey Buckingham, and John Fahey, to name a few of the artists who have influenced her work.
Steele's bluesy vocals fall into the junction where Peggy Lee meets Bonnie Raitt and Adelle with subtle suggestions of a more-recent Joni Mitchell (and a trace of Leon Redbone)--a voice that absolutely complements her syncopated, non-conventional fingerstyle guitar work. Upbeat, yet intense, Jae C. Steele's delivery appeals to audiences with her immediately recognizable style.
